Some features include:
- Emphasis on fun, learning through active exploration, ie. play.
- Inquiry based learning
- Developing necessary foundational skills in numeracy and literacy.
- Participating in large and small group experiences that may include; discussions; music; drama; games; and turn taking activities.
- Emphasis on social and emotional skills.
- Kindergarten Physical Education Program.
- Encouraging children to observe, listen, investigate, experiment and ask questions.
- Encouraging self-help and independence in preparation for school.
- School familiarisation program which includes visits to two local schools and transition reports for parents in Term 4 which will be passed onto child’s school.
- Library program for 4 year old group
- Extra curricular activities such as chicken hatching, farm visits, traffic school, puppeteers and drama toolbox.
- Special days including Mother’s/Father’s Day and Special Person’s Day.
- Social events for the whole family that may include: Family Fun Day; Take Away Night and Children’s Week activities.
Parental Involvement:
There are many opportunities for you to be involved with the pre-school including:
- Helping in our Parent Participation Program (a great way to see your child interacting with other children and chat to the teachers about your child’s progress).
- Working bee – families are asked to help at least once a year
- Participation in special days, eg. Mother’s and Father’s days, Christmas party.
- Social events – these can be whole kinder events or individual group get togethers.
- As a Committee member – the pre-school is managed by a Committee of Management made up of parents who meet once a month to discuss day to day issues facing the pre-school. The only pre-requisites required are enthusiasm and an interest in your child’s pre-school education.
