4 Year Olds, Term 4

Chicken Hatching

Chicken hatching was lots of fun.  We watched the new chickens peck around the egg and push off the shell. We had the chickens to watch and play with for two weeks. We love drawing what we see so Jake suggested we should see the chickens up close to draw them. We also had a visit to the East Burwood Fire Station, so exciting to see all the details in the fire truck. We then made our own fire truck collage to recall what the details were.

 Gould League Excursion

We were excited to be going on our excursion in a big bus, both 4 year old groups together. After our new kinder bins that say Rubbish and Recycle we have been very interested in what happens to the items we put in, and what goes where. We have set up our own worm farm and now give all our food scraps to the worms.

We found out about sorting rubbish for recycling, and how new things can be made from our cans, bottles and paper. Next we pretended to shrink and go inside a compost bin.

Then we got to have a close look at some worms with a video microscope. Next we looked at some worms with our own magnifying glass. Then down the slide to say goodbye.
